MARKEY FOR CONGRESS

Senator throws support behind Markey in Fourth District bid for Congress

On Wednesday, August 22, United States Senator Ken Salazar will endorse Betsy Markey, Democratic candidate for Congress from Colorado’s Fourth District. Markey is running against Eric Eidsness and Angie Paccione in the Democratic primary. The three are vying to challenge Republican Marilyn Musgrave in November 2008.

When she entered the race, Markey announced the endorsements of State Senator Bob Bacon, State Representative John Kefalas, former State Senators Peggy Reeves and Stan Matsunaka, and other local community leaders. Markey most recently was Northern Colorado Regional Director for U.S. Senator Ken Salazar. She is an accomplished businesswoman, having founded and grown a successful high-tech business and a local retail shop. She is also a past high-ranking official in the U.S. State Department.
