Last April the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee conducted a poll which among other things pointed out Congresswoman Musgrave’s vulnerability. Fifty-nine percent of voters (59%) say they will vote for someone else or consider someone else.
Now the rest of the country is noticing the same thing and it is good news for us in the 4th CD…
The Washington Post just named this congressional race one of the top ten in the country most likely to switch parties in 2008. Here is what they had to say about the race:
“10. Colorado's 4th District (Currently R): Every election we look at the strong Republican performance of this district and conclude that there is no way Rep. Marilyn Musgrave can lose the seat. And every election she barely manages to win. This time we won't be fooled. Democrats are heavily targeting this race and Musgrave has proven that she underperforms in this eastern Colorado seat. Angie Paccione the Democrat who lost to Musgrave by less than 6,000 votes in 2006, is back for another race but faces a serious primary challenge from Betsy Markey, a former aide to Sen. Ken Salazar (D-Colo.) Salazar has already endorsed Markey, which could well give her a leg up in the primary. This race shouldn't be close given the district's demographics but it will be.”

This type of recognition helps Democrats, Independents and moderate Republicans who are hoping to see Ms. Musgrave go the way of the dinosaur, excited about the race and interested in finding a candidate that can win this seat and provide new leadership.
Over the past month and for the rest of September I will be visiting with people all around the district discussing the campaign and issues that are importance to the state and the country. People have been extremely gracious in opening their homes for “house parties” introducing me to friends and family. By the end of September my family and I will have covered almost 30 parties over 30 days! While it has been a frantic pace the exposure to lots of interested citizens has been wonderful and personally energizing. If you or a group you are part of would like to have me come by to speak please contact the campaign by phone or email. 970-221-1473 email: info@MarkeyforCongress.com .
Thanks for your interest in the campaign.
