There are an amazing number of people that give significant portions of their time on a weekly or even daily basis to help effect change through the political process. Our offices are like Grand Central Station with volunteers coming by at all hours of the day either responding to calls for assistance on special projects or simply showing up asking how they can help. Volunteer team leaders help organize people into different areas and lots of different tasks and projects are going on simultaneously. The limited paid staff interact with volunteers and depend on their efforts to get many things done. 
 
With practically boundless energy these people truly have a real affect on elections. They not only help keep the costs of campaigns in check, their ideas and opinions are heard loud and clear, they spread the word to others in many different ways and they bring a hope and vitality to a campaign.  
 
Volunteers help give me hope that our system is flourishing and the democratic process is strong.
